Dear Friends in China
Happy New Year !

我将在北京度过几个月的时间。在此之前，我还希望在巴黎多待几个月。

For a few more months I hope to be in Paris. Later I should be again a couple of months in Beijing

在亚欧之间建立一个联系的纽带，确实是件很好的事。

It is good to have a base in both continents.

在巴黎，我充分看到了欧盟各方面工作的进展：
o 欧盟如何发展与土耳其及其他非欧洲成员国的关系；
o 如何控制外来移民；
o 如何保持欧洲的竞争优势等。

Paris gives an excellent chance to see how the European Union is developing,

去年的一次会面中我们谈到了 国际商会，我可以附加一些 Victor K Fung 先生的自传，他不久 前当选为国际商会副主 席。
就是说，按照国际 商会的惯例， 01-01-2009，国 际商会将拥有首位中国主席。

Since during a meeting last year we spoke about the ICC I may add a short biography of Mr Victor K Fung who recently was elected Vice Chairman of ICC

Under the ICC rules that means that in january 2009 for the first time ICC will have a Chinese President !

That should open great possibilities.

Vice-Chairman elect of the International Chamber of Commerce, due to become ICC Chairman in 2009
Victor K. Fung is the Chairman of the Li & Fung Group of companies, with major subsidiaries in trading, distribution and retailing, including publicly-listed Li & Fung Limited, Integrated Distribution Services Group Limited, and Convenience Retail Asia. Hong Kong
He is also Chairman of the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council, the Hong Kong Airport Authority, and the Hong Kong University Council. Mr Fung holds a number of civic and professional appointments. He is a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Government Commission on Strategic Development, and head of a focus group for the Economic Summit on China's 11th Five-Year Plan and the Development of Hong Kong, organized by the Hong Kong Government. Mr Fung has written and spoken widely on international trade matters and is a strong advocate of the multilateral trading system. He has served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and as the Hong Kong representative on the APEC Business Advisory Council. He also served on the Informal Business Advisory Body to the World Trade Organization.
